[VIDEO] Herb Brooks Pre Soviet Game Speech

The Miracle on Ice is certainly one of the most defining moments in United States sports as well as hockey in general.

Medal Round play during the 1980 Olympics at Lake Placid, New York.  A match that almost didn’t happen due to a potential Soviet boycott of the games.

The United States, made up of amateur athletes, were matched against a Soviet team made up of professional, full-time players.

The same Soviet team that had demolished the NHL All Stars 6-0 less than one year earlier.

But as Herb Brooks says “They might beat us 9 games out of 10.”

The rest is history.

Watch the video below as Herb Brooks motivates his team (as portrayed by Kurt Russell in the 2004 movie Miracle).
