[VIDEO] Toughest Hits Hockey vs Rugby

A very interesting video comparing hockey hits to rugby hits.

Surface – Ice vs grass/ground – No contest, ice.

Speed – Much faster on ice than running.  Advantage, hockey.

Objects – 110 mph puck or 40 mph ball.  Hockey wins again.

Absorbing hits – Rugby players are usually stuck to the ground, hockey players are on the ice and, unless stopping, have no traction when hit unexpectedly.

Blindside hits – Much more frequent in hockey.  Rugby players usually know where the hit is coming from.

Padding – Okay, give this edge to rugby since they have no (almost) no padding.

Great respect for rugby and hockey athletes.  But the winner of “hardest hits” goes to HOCKEY!
